I rea...I felt the same way you did about this book. I really, really enjoyed it in the beginning, but my interested started to wane quite a bit after Layla left for the plantation. I felt like nothing interesting or significant happened from that point. The sift was so pronounced that, at times, I felt like I was reading separate books.
