Still Alice

This is a wonderful, insightful book that deals with Alzheimer's Disease from first time author Lisa Genova (who also has a PhD in neuroscience).

Synopsis: Alice Howland is a happily married woman with three grown children and is a celebrated Harvard professor. Suddenly she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer's disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away

The story is heartbreaking especially for those of us who have had family members or friends that have suffered from this horrible disease. You get to see Alzheimer's through the eyes of the sufferer. It is a book that sticks with you well after you finish the last page.

My rating: 4.5/5 (aka really good!)
